I did an 8 hr climbing day with Shankar and it was wonderful! We talked before-hand about my skill level and what I was hoping for on our climbing day. Shankar picked out some fun multi-pitch climbs for me at the Cathedral Spires. I have some years experience in rock climbing so I wasn't looking for an instructional day. Shankar started me right out on a classic climb up one spire and then we climbed 2 other spires that day. We climbed one spire twice when I expressed an interest in a more challenging route right next to the classic route we climbed first. I'd climb with Shankar and Sylvan Rocks again any day.

Sylvan Rocks is awesome! When they say "Do something you never imagined you could!" on the website, they mean it! The single pitch AMGA guides Ryan and Ben were fantastic and I was able to summit multiple routes on my first attempt ever at climbing outdoors. I cannot recommend the climbing school enough as a fantastic addition to any trip to the Black Hills.

Our guide Ryan was the best at assessing our skill level and very patient with us as we learned how to rock climb. My wife and I had no prior experience, and we were surprised by the end of the session at how much we accomplished in just 6 hours. We were able to climb some awesome cliffs with amazing views from the top. We felt very safe as well, as Ryan triple checked our safety harnesses/devices and kept a very close eye on us. Overall, amazing and unique experience…I would do it again if I was in the area.
