What a great excision in Custer at Lake Sylvan. My daughters (12, 14 and 16) were given the choice between biking, ATVIng, and horseback riding. They unanimously chose climbing and I’m so happy that we chose Sylvan Rocks as our outfitter. Chris, Ryan and Bears were able to meet you at your level and provide you with the safe knowledge and comfort to start small and climb BIG! at the end of 4 hours. *CLIMBING EXPERIENCE IS NOT NEEDED! They will meet you where you’re at. At the end of the 4 hours we easily climbed confident and successfully up 6-7 different paths up the spires. I can’t speak highly enough of this outfitter. They were A-amazing! You can’t go wrong with them.

We've been climbing with Sylvan Rocks for years and each time it is a highlight of our trip to SD. Our guide over the years has been Chris, who is always friendly and attentive to your safety and skill level. We strongly recommended Sylvan Rocks for an adventure of a lifetime!

My son and I did an introductory climbing day a couple of years ago with Sylvan Rocks. That day made my son fall in love with climbing. Last week, we returned for a three-day climbing session, and it was even better than the first. Our guide Shankar gave us three amazing days that culminated in my son's ascent of Spires 2 and 3 of the Cathedral Spires in Custer State Park. He was patient, good-humored, and laser-focused on safety while dealing both with my beginner's mistakes, and with my son's need for technical training. While he pushed me to stretch my limits, there was never any point at which I felt it was inappropriate. And, we got to the top of the "Aquarium." On top of all that, Shankar's just a really cool guy. I feel that we got more than our money's worth out of this experience, and we will be back to climb again with Sylvan Rocks.
