Devils Tower Blitz

  • 2 Day Devils Tower Blitz

The two-day Devils Tower Blitz course gives you a great shot at reaching the summit of Devils Tower. On this course, we will spend a day climbing together to make sure that you are climbing at the ability required to summit Devils Tower. Your guide will focus on climbing efficiently in a multi-pitch setting. The first day of this course takes place as an eight-hour guide day in Custer State Park, South Dakota, although the day may be shorter if we cover the needed skills and YOU choose to save energy for the main event. At the end of the first day, your guide will make an honest assessment of your abilities, and decide whether or not a summit attempt is feasible for your skill level. If it is decided that a summit attempt will be made, on the second day of your package, you will meet your guide at Devils Tower National Monument EARLY (sometimes as early as 3:30 am), and push for a summit. Early start times are crucial to avoid the crowds, as well as extremely high temperatures experienced at Devils Tower. If your guide decides that a summit attempt is not feasible, you will be able to spend a second day climbing in Custer State Park or Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

This course is great for those who have spent time in rock climbing gyms, as well as those who have a little outdoor climbing experience. This course may be suitable for you if you enjoy a serious physical challenge, and are willing to learn a lot of new skills in a very short period of time.

Took the 4 hr trip with me and my 7 year old. The entire process from booking our trip to signing the consent on line to the end getting into our car and leaving was seemless. They made everything very convenient and hassle free. I would say that this is the best money spent as far as “attractions” go in the Black Hills although, I do feel that Sylvan Rocks is on a different level than the standard Black Hills tourist trap. Whether you’re a local or in the area on vacation, I highly recommend this guide service. We had Ryan as our guide and he was awesome. He was great with my 7 year old and provided great instruction for both of us. Definitely will be booking another trip with my wife sometime in the future to get a little more time climbing and probably do the 6 or 8 hr option. In conclusion, if you want to experience the hills, book a climbing trip with Sylvan Rocks. It’s the most bang for your buck and I can guarantee you won’t regret it!

Really amazing experience. We're East Coast climbers with decent knowledge, wanted guide support for doing trad routes and learning about crack climbing. Knowledgeable, thoughtful guides who took us to some amazing locations (Needles in Custer State Park; Devil's Tower in Wyoming). They identified challenging but not impossible routes, gave us support when asked, and had impeccable safety practices throughout. Brandon was very responsive in the planning and logistics leading up to our climbing days. Would be thrilled to work with them again and hope to return to the area sometime.

Climbing the tower was one thing I've wanted to do for a long time but couldn't seem to find the time. Finally, just called and made the decision. Shankar was my guide, and he made the whole experience happen. He knows how to coach and teach rock craft. Really had a great trip. Hope to do some more climbing again.
